2011 HATCH Festival - Oct 4th - 8th, 2011 at The Emerson Cultural Center in BozemanWHAT IS HATCH?
HATCH was founded upon Mentorship in Innovation because the inspiration of one affects the lives of millions.
HATCH IS FOR EVERYONE as a venue for synergy in action in a mash-up of film, music, design, technology, architecture, and inspirational entrepreneurial thinking. HATCH is a one of a kind four day inspiration experience, bringing together global thought leaders in multiple disciplines to network, exchange ideas, and inspire action in creativity and innovation while mentoring artists young and old.
HATCH is a one of a kind four day inspiration experience, bringing together global thought leaders in multiple disciplines to network, exchange ideas, and inspire action in creativity and innovation while mentoring artists young and old. HATCH was founded with an ambitious vision; to build bridges between innovative minds across the globe, and as a 100% volunteer-run organization, HATCH has succeeded in many ways and there have been many life-changing testimonials that tell that story.
Simply, we want to help HATCH a better world. Starting in Bozeman.
BY COMMUNITY FOR COMMUNITY
With the help of a strong collaboration of local businesses and over a hundred volunteers, HATCH is a 100% volunteer-run non-profit working to make a positive impact on Bozeman and Montana. Founded by Montana natives, this year HATCH will interact with over 500 students from Montana State University and Bozeman High with workshops, panel discussions and one-on–one mentorship. All panels and workshops are open to the public.
Although the majority of HATCH film premieres, concerts, panels, keynotes, and presentations takes place at The Emerson Cultural Center, there are a half dozen workshops occurring at MSU, Bozeman High, Peach Street Studios, and Music Villa, reaching over 500 students for networking, portfolio reviews, and one-on-one mentoring.
EIGHT YEARS OF HATCH
Since 2004, HATCH has connected over 300 mentors w/ approx 5000 students. Over 200 students have been awarded scholarships to HATCH. HATCH content & www.HATCHfest.org is visited by over 150 countries and in 2010 had over 2.5 million impressions. HATCH has been recognized by film studios such as FOX, Warner Bros, & Universal, as a launching pad in discovering filmmakers, and has been featured in Variety, Hollywood Reporter, People, USA Today, BBC, LA Times, E.T., & SPIN, and more. This year In addition to inspiring film & music, there will be nearly 20 panels and keynote presentations available for the community, featuring technology, design, architecture, journalism, and social cause entrepreneurialism.
IMPACTING THE ECONOMY OF MONTANA
Governor Schweitzer has stated about HATCH, “I can think of no better venue than Montana to help harness your creative talents. Those of us, who call Montana home, know how special a place we have here, and we are more than happy to share it with those of you that will come to recognize it for what it is - a place to nurture your artistic spirit, while working to impact our economy.” Exposing Hollywood filmmakers to Montana can bring about major economical change. "Far and Away" left $15 Million in the Billings area when they filmed here. Sundance brings $45 Million to Park City’s local economy each year.
There have been over 30 productions (commercial and feature) brought to Montana as a result of collaborations created by HATCH. The money brought by film production is new money to the our economy, and every time Montana is on the big screen, it boosts awareness to Montana through tourism, and by bringing new business to the state.
The economic boost of putting Montana on the big screen changed Bozeman and the surrounding area forever. In 1992, when "A River Runs Through It" came to Montana, the exposure impacted Montana's economy, with increased visits to the Parks, fishing rivers and more, as people came in droves to play and live. In 1992, according to the Montana Bureau of Business and Economic Research, 6.5 million tourists visited Montana, bringing along revenues of $930 million dollars. By 1995, the number had risen to 7.7 million visitors who spent $1.2 billion dollars in Montana. $90 MILLION IN 3 YEARS.
HATCH organizers hope to continue to grow HATCH and help impact Bozeman’s economy in a positive way.
You are invited to come be inspired as the films, music, keynotes, and showcases are powerful this year. To read more about the dynamic and diverse guest mentors and artists attending this year, download the "HATCH at a Glance” PDF.
